Effort and Non Effort
This is one of Papaji’s discourse (Om Shanti) at the beginning of Satsang on October 5th, 1992. Papaji speaks about two approaches to realizing one’s innate freedom: the first is Ajagar Writti, or complete silence and stillness, and the other the path of Yoga (eight limbs) and intense effort. Papaji gives the examples of a few saints and also speaks about Buddha. He then talks about Ramana and how his silence attracted people far and wide. Whatever the approach Papaji reiterate that the most important factor is one’s attitude and the willingness to let go of all internal garbage and dedicate this time in satsang for oneself.
