25th May 1994 “Buddha Purnima”
This is a video of Papaji and devotees in the Forest in Lucknow in occasion of Buddha Purnima in 1994. Also known as ‘Vesak’, Buddha Purnima is the most sacred Buddhist festival and commemorates the birth, enlightenment and passing away of Gautama Buddha. It is celebrated during the full moon in May.
The video includes various ‘behind the scenes’, including Papaji watching devotees playing tennis.
During the celebration Papaji narrates the life of Buddha and his voice chokes as he recounts the moment when Buddha leaves the palace. He also speaks about his love for Buddha and his mischievousness as a child who would stop at nothing to emulate Buddha.
This video includes many beautiful bhajans, readings from Chan MasterJianzhi Sengcan and from the Heart Sutra and a tea ceremony by a Japanese devotee.
