What Is Surrender?

Devotee: I keep hearing about surrender but I do not know what it is.
There is only one thing you must surrender: ego. Surrender means, “I hand over to you this thing and this thing no longer belongs to me.” If I give you an apple and you eat it and I ask for it back, you cannot give it back. Like lthis you must surrender your ego, the concept that “I am the body,” and then you are God itself. Surrender your ego and if you do, I will tell you to put it here in my hand. Then I assure you that you will be very happy throughout your life and also your afterlife. Surrender is to submit your stupidness, your wickedness, to the will of the Lord. That’s all. It is like a river discharging into the ocean. This is called surrender. What does a river discharging into the ocean become? Ocean.
Then you cannot see this river in the ocean. The instant it touches ocean, it is ocean. Like that, surrender to your own Self and forget everything else. Surrender your ego, your mind, to your own Self. Do it! Don’t just hear about it. Surrender is to just allow whatever happens to happen. Don’t initiate anything on your own behalf. This is surrender to the Divine Will.
