The door to Papaji’s satsang was always open. In Lucknow,Papaji hosted visitors in his home until so many people were coming he didn’t have the space to gather everyone. A hall was rented out which became affectionately known as Satsang Bhavan. Everyday visitors from all over the world gathered outside Satsang Bhavan. The doors would open when all the floors were washed, fresh flowers and malas were lovingly placed and the cushions were arranged. There was no fee to enter; sales from the bookstore and cafe helped cover the bills and the rest was paid for by the quiet donations of visitors. In this spirit, the Avadhuta Foundation has kept its doors open since it began in 1993. The sales of books and recordings of satsang never covered the expense of running the foundation. We are supported and continue to exist through donations.
