5th July 1993 – Lay Down Your Ego
This satsang from the 5th of July 1992 starts with Papaji showing a painting from SITARA who asks who is painting and who am I?
Papaji: “Go to the source and then you paint That.”
* VEDANT: “I am That.”
Papaji challenges him: “I am That is also a thought, not an experience. In that ‘That’ there is no mind to explain. Lay down bow and arrow of ego and stop fighting the silence.” Papaji tells people to speak if they have laid down their ego.
* PRAVITA: 2 men stole her train ticket.
Papaji: “Thieves can come in any form. ‘I am That’ has to manifest. Whatever you think it has to manifest.” Papaji tells the story of the Dacoit Saint.
* VEDANT: “What is stupid about the thought ‘I am That’?
Papaji has a go at him and asks people, what is your opinion about his face? “Lay down your ego and then speak. 1second guidance. Even trying is ego. Gush away all concepts.”
* VICTOR stands up and starts dancing.
* ANONYMOUS GIRL comes up and prostates for 2 ½ ms. “It’s love nothing else. Devotion.”
Papaji kisses her hands.
* KENYAN GUY: Long monologue. “Knowledge passed onto generations. What makes you laugh, walk? What is this force beyond all these things. Now is ever living.”
Papaji: “Through any effort, through any search you cannot find it. Whether by searching, not to not searching. How can you search existence? Who is the one searching?” Various koans. Long silence.
* ISRAELI GUY: “Can you see my heart now? Shall I remove my shirt?”
Papaji: “Remove the ‘I’ and then speak if you can. If you are totally surrendered and quiet, then you will see the guide.”
* ANONYMOUS GIRL “I found out I am nobody.”
