Who Am I? is a short work that records replies that Ramana Maharshi wrote out for one of his devotees in 1902, when he was still living in a cave on the Arunachala hill. It covers many topics such as creation and the nature of the mind, but it is notable for its clear exposition of the technique of self-inquiry, Sri Ramana’s distinctive practical teaching.
When new visitors to Ramanashram asked Sri Ramana about his teachings, he would sometimes tell them to read this small book and then come back to him if they had any questions about it. Who am I? is an outstanding and easy-to-read introduction to the main ideas of Sri Ramana’s teachings.
