By Paul Brunton
Published by V. S. Ramanan, President, Sri Ramanasramam
Paul Brunton’s book, A Search in Secret India, was the author’s account of saints, yogis and gurus he met while travelling in India in the early 1930s. The book was a global best seller and has been in print ever since. It is quite clear from Brunton’s comments in the book that Ramana Maharshi was the saint who impressed him the most. His glowing and positive accounts of Sri Ramana’s power and presence persuaded many people all over the world to come to Tiruvannamalai to experience the peace that Brunton said he had experienced there. The three chapters of the book in which Brunton describes his encounters with Ramana Maharshi have been extracted from A Search in Secret India and published as this small booklet entitled The Maharshi and His Message.
