K. Lakshman Sarma
Publisher, V. S. Ramanan, President, Sri Ramanasramam
Lakshman Sarma was one of the very few people who received private lessons from Ramana Maharshi on the meaning of his written works. He had to demonstrate that he had fully mastered the meaning of each Tamil verse by translating it into Sanskrit, a language with which he was much more familiar. Once Bhagavan had approved his translations of all the verses of Ulladu Narpadu (Forty Verses on Reality) Lakshman Sarma wrote several books that expressed the understanding that Bhagavan had given him. This work, Sri Ramanaparavidyopanishad, composed in the late 1950s in Sanskrit, was an attempt to summarize Sri Ramana’s teachings on a wide variety of topics. Lakshman Sarma originally serialized the work in a magazine entitled The Call Divine. The serialized version contained his own English translation of the work. It is this dual language version that has now been published for the first time by Sri Ramanasramam.
