Papaji Speaks -- Om Shantis Vol. 2
(with English subtitles)
This video, Om Shanti Clips, Volume 2, includes the opening introductions, or “om shantis” to three different public talks, Satsangs, in 1992. Only Papaji speaks in each of these clips. There are no questions-and-answers.
Om Shanti from November 6, 1992 - 24 minutes
Papaji says that if you know the answer to the question, “Who are you?” karma ceases to function and samsara ceases to exist. You return to your original nature: Being, Existence, Bliss. This is the only reason you are here. He then goes on to discuss the means by which the answer becomes apparent.
Om Shanti from November 23, 1992 - 16 minutes
Papaji discusses the original notion, or idea, from which the entire illusory universe was born. He says that those who look at the fruit of this notion will suffer endlessly because it hides the substratum of all that appears--which is the source of all joy. He explains the underlying Reality, God or Consciousness, and the means by which the illusion can be dissolved so that Reality can be realized.
Om Shanti from December 21, 1992 - 15 minutes
Papaji says that silence, which is one’s true nature and the source of all happiness, is the purpose of all practices. For example, he says that the joy that seems to come from the attainment of some goal is not in the gain itself, but becomes apparent as ever-present because the mind is now silent. He maintains that it is possible to be silent even in the midst of activity, which is also Sri Ramana Maharshi’s main teaching. Papaji says that silence, which is synonymous with freedom, answers all questions. However, he says not to run after freedom or enlightenment. If you keep quiet it will find you. He doesn’t leave us with only the insight into the importance of silence, but goes on to tell us how to achieve (or, recognize) silence as the ever-present substratum of awareness.
