Ganapati Muni was one of the key figures in Ramana Maharshi’s early years in Tiruvannamalai. He gave him the name and title ‘Sri Ramana Maharshi,’ which superseded other names he had been known by; he compiled Sri Ramana Gita, the earliest published collection of Sri Ramana’s spoken teachings, and he did much to bring Sri Ramana to the attention of the world in the first two decades of the twentieth century. This biography of Ganapati Muni, written by his grandson, covers all these events and also includes accounts of his attempts to promote Sanskrit and social reform.
